Are you ready for Apple’s iTV?

Apple is reportedly in talks with major networks  to offer 99-cent TV episode rentals through iTunes. It’s unclear if each network would offer all their content for rental on iTunes or just select series. Episodes would be available for rental within 24 hours after their initial airing and expire after 48 hours.

It is said that iTV will include iOS TV applications. “Expect to see an iPhone/iPad-like marketplace for television applications such as video sharing, streaming, recording apps, interactive news apps, and of course, games.

RIM to bring BlackPad to the market

Jul 20
2010

Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion ( RIM)  has been long rumored to be on its way to bringing to the market its very own BlackBerry tablet; the BlackPad . If true, it would stack up against the HP PalmPad, Lenovo LePad and, of course, the Apple iPad.

Apple, of course, started the whole “pad” business with the iPad—of which it sold 3.27 million during its fiscal third quarter, for total revenues of $15.7 billion. PC-makers-turned-smartphone-makers Lenovo and Hewlett-Packard have since hopped on board. Lenovo has plans to launch its LePad by year’s end, and HP recently filed a trademark request for the name “PalmPad”—a safe bet for the title of its planned tablet running Palm’s WebOS platform.

The RIM BlackPad could hit retail shelves in time for the holidays.

Developers aim to get Flash running on iPad

iPad owners who are still upset that Apple won’t allow Flash in iOS might soon have a solution.

A new application for jailbroken iPads called Frash allows owners to run Flash in their Mobile Safari browser. The app was developed by Comex, a company that created the Spirit jailbreak.

Frash isn’t currently available for wide release. The app, according to its developers, just isn’t stable enough to justify releasing it just yet. Realizing that, Comex has decided to make the app’s files available on GitHub to allow any developer to tweak and improve the software for iOS. The goal is to make the app reliable and then release it to the public.

Ironically, Frash is a port of the Android Flash plug-in that Adobe recently released for Google’s mobile operating system. The app will only run in the Mobile Safari browser, but the company plans to support the iPhone 3GS and iOS 4.

Frash is what many iPad and iPhone owners might have been waiting for. As Adobe has pointed out time and again, the vast majority of the Web’s videos and games run on Flash. With the help of Frash, owners of jailbroken iPads will finally be able to access all that content when the app is made available to the public at some point in the relatively near future

The iPad: so many opinions…

Jun 21
2010

By this time people had the chance to form a full range of opinions about the iPad . It should be clear that there are aspects of this device which we love, and others which we clearly do not. People are torn between- one-  analyzing the device’s position in relation to the advancement of the personal computer, and two- whether or not it is justified to spend your money on this thing.

The buyer of an iPad is one of two people, the first is someone who sees not just the present, but the potential of a product like the iPad… and believes in and is excited about that potential. This is also a person who can afford what amounts to a luxury item. The second is an individual who simply doesn’t need to get that much work done, and would prefer their computing experience to be easier, faster, and simpler. And clearly has other things that he needs to buy before the iPad.
